Press Release: Cory Youth Band

We are continued logistic partners and supporters of The Cory Band, one of the world’s finest and most innovative brass bands. The Cory Band hail from the Rhondda Valley in South Wales, like ourselves, and perform all over the world. We are very proud to announce that we are now part of and supporting their Arts and Kids Initiative, which is going to allow Cory Youth Band to form from January 2013. Cory Band recently released this exciting news:

Cory Band are very excited to announce the launch of the Cory Youth Band in January 2013.  The Welsh and Brass in Concert Champions have witnessed the reduction in brass educational services in the local area and throughout Wales in recent years and the launch of Cory Youth is the first stage in Cory’s ambitious youth development strategy commencing in 2013.

Cory Youth will be led by expert tutors from Cory Band who will provide tuition on a weekly basis for young people aged between 7-17 years old.  Cory Youth will provide the structure to support local children to learn and develop their brass playing skills, receiving support from Cory’s expert tutors and players throughout their development.

Cory have received investment in their youth programme from Arts & Business Cymru through their Arts & Kids initiative in partnership with D1 Design and Creative Limited who are the band’s Logistics Partner. Cory Band would like to thank all these organisations for their financial support and for their vision in the Cory Youth initiative.

The young players who chose to join the Cory Youth Band will not only receive expert tuition but will also be provided with a brass instrument courtesy of Besson Musical Instruments in conjunction with Ev-entz Music, Newport. Cory Band would like to thank Arnaud Montois, Lyndon Chapman and Adrian Evans who have made it possible for Cory Youth to perform on first class Besson Instruments.

Commenting on the launch of this initiative Band Manager Austin Davies said “I am so proud to be announcing the launch of Cory Youth Band.  Even with all the success that Cory have achieved in recent years, we realise that to achieve ongoing survival and success for brass bands in Wales we need to focus on our youth initiatives and this is the first stage of that. This is truly a partnership effort and we are indebted to the organisations and individuals who have joined to support our vision. Cory are based in the Rhondda Valley which is a socially deprived area. As the number one brass band in World for the sixth consecutive year, Cory represent the Rhondda and Wales throughout the World with pride and demonstrate to the local community what can be achieved even in a region of deprivation.”

The future of brass bands in Wales looks promising thanks to this and other initiatives planned for 2013.
