Environmental Policy

All the team at D1 Design & Creative Visual Merchandising Manufacturers are aware of the importance of our effect on the environment and are continually working to develop and better our working practices. The following policy explains our commitment to these areas.

Reuse and Recycle

We ensure all materials are reclaimed and recycled wherever possible. We actively encourage our clients to reuse, recycle and re-develop the props, fixtures and displays we create, whether storing schemes for future use or redeveloping pieces to create a whole new look & feel.

Manufacturing and Suppliers

In all projects we will endeavor to use the most sustainable materials and processes. We also work with our suppliers and manufacturers to ensure they are aware of our policy and that they continue to work with us to achieve it. We work largely with local manufacturers promoting the use of good materials and supporting local businesses.

Waste Management

D1 takes care to monitor all waste leaving the premises, and does aim to minimize waste where possible by reusing or recycling materials and display schemes.

Office and Staff Energy Usage

All staff at D1 are aware of the environmental policies and are encouraged to minimize their conservation of energy where possible, whether it is in the office or travelling.

FSC Certification

D1DC are also FSC^® certified. This means that all specified wood products that we use in manufacture are sourced from well-managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits. Our FSC certification means that upon request we can offer products that are sourced and manufactured using the FSC guidelines.

The Forest Stewardship Council^® is the worlds most respected forest certification scheme and is described on their website -
“FSC is a global, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of responsible forest management worldwide. We enable businesses and consumers to make informed choices about the forest products they buy, and create positive change by engaging the power of market dynamics.”

D1DC is Chain of Custody FSC certified. Our FSC licence code is FSC-C113172. This applies to manufacturers, processors and traders of FSC certified products. It ensures all products along the production chain are FSC certified and that each stage of manufacture it confirms that FSC wood is kept separate from uncertified products.

This certification has benefits for forests, their owners, local communities, businesses and consumers. There is a growing demand in the industry for FSC certified products from well-managed forests. FSC works with forest owners and managers to create an incentive to follow good environmental and social practices. This brings direct benefits to the forests, enabling workers rights to be protected, protecting bio diversity and looking after particularly important areas. All this also ensures the end product holds the FSC principles and environmental benefits for the consumer.
