PIERRE CARDIN - Duck Tales!
Pierre Cardin - Duck Tales!
Pierre Cardin is a lifestyle fashion brand with a mass appeal, catering for the professional man, at work and in his downtime. It is part of the Aydinli Group, with the head office based in Turkey.
D1 Design & Creative were asked to work with the creative team to develop a new style of window schemes for the brand, starting with AW12. They wanted to start reflecting Pierre Cardin’s innovative design style by adding humour and quirkiness.
Colour from the season’s fashion collection and incorporating promotional photography into the windows were key aspects of the AW12 brief. The themes were outdoors, dark earthy colours and nature.
At the initial stages of the project we developed mood boards that detailed themes based around the brief. One in particular stood out to the creatives at Pierre Cardin, entitled ‘Duck Tales’.
Duck Tales was an idea we came up with based on the outdoor lake imagery supplied by Pierre Cardin, but developed into a fun take on the outdoor theme, filling the window beds with artificial mallard ducks. It was lighthearted and humorous.
The idea was developed into photographic visuals of the scheme, which detailed a row of ducks that sit on the window bed and then continue up the sides of the window wall. The team at Pierre Cardin were happy with the final concept and ordered this scheme for all stores, in a total of 126 windows, which are all internationally based.
This initial AW scheme was designed to set the bar for a future design style for these windows. The scheme was very well received by the creative team in Pierre Cardin, shown with this feedback from Jacqueline Albertson, Visual Merchandising Director for the Aydinli Group.
“We asked D1 Design & Creative to work with us on our AW'12 window scheme for the Pierre Cardin brand. Having met with the team I felt confident that D1 could bring an understanding of the Turkish market to the project without losing sight of brand ethos.
Our brief to D1 Design & Creative was something that reflected humor, art installation and a quirkiness to differentiate the brand.
Their first concept suggestion hit the nail on the head. From it's initial visualization through to mock up's, it has made us all smile.
I am delighted we are now seeing that same response with our customers and staff. 'Duck Tales' has been a fabulous adventure and created a handwriting for the brand that we will hope to continue.”
